The Paintshop Hostel in Figueira da Foz is the town's first and only international backpacker’s hostel, located in a traditional Portuguese town house, a stone’s throw from Europe’s widest beach and the bars and clubs of this popular Atlantic surfing resort.

First seen on the UK Channel 4 TV show ‘A Place in the Sun’ four years ago it is now owned and run by Steve and Debbie, an English couple from Shropshire. This is their first year, and it has already been a success, with many people describing it as a 'home away from home!' After backpacking extensively themselves around the world and then through Europe, they have kept the backpackers in mind and made their mark on this already well-established Hostel.

The Paintshop Hostel has a large common room area with comfy settees, a large TV and DVD player, with a massive collection of DVD's to cater for all moods from Comedies, to Horrors, to Romance! A pool table for all the pool sharks out there and a book exchange for all the book worms!

It also boasts a fully-equipped kitchen (with a large BBQ area and outside wood burning Pizza oven), so if your looking to cook up a storm or warm up your pasta you wont struggle and, if not, don't worry there's plenty of Cafes and Restaurants around to grab a quick and delicious bite for prices that won't break the bank!!

We also have a fully-stocked bar for the cheapest prices in town, exclusive for our guests and close friends. You can enjoy a cocktail in our Courtyard or watch the latest Sports on our 52" wide screen TV all in High Definition with a nice cold glass of Superbock!!

Whether you have partied too hard or are looking to relax, our comfy beds and hot showers are sure to ease that hangover or comfort those aches from your travels. So come on down to the Paintshop where everybody knows your name (well at least the staff!!) and enjoy our friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
