The Paintshop Hostel in Figueira da Foz is the town's first and only international backpacker’s hostel, located in a traditional Portuguese town house, a stone’s throw from Europe’s widest beach and the bars and clubs of this popular Atlantic surfing resort.
First seen on the UK Channel 4 TV show ‘A Place in the Sun’ we offer budget accommodation with private double rooms, twin rooms and 2, 4 or 6 bed dorms. If you are in a van trip then you can park-up nearby and use the kitchen, showers and internet facilities for a reduced rate.
You can cater for yourselves in our well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, or fill up on delicious food and vinho at the many nearby bars and restaurants that cater for all budgets. If you feel like staying in and relaxing we have loads of DVDs and there is also satellite TV in both the hostel and the bar. You can use our internet cafe, or if you have your own laptop log onto our WIFI throughout the hostel, and there’s a pool table plus a free book exchange to keep you entertained.
The Paintshop bar is a great place to kick back during the day and nurse sore heads with a freshly brewed coffee or smoothie and munch on a toastie- or of course to start all over again with a beer! The bar is open from 10am to midnight every day, and a great place to begin the night’s festivities and meet your fellow hostel guests.
The Paintshop Hostel is relaxed and comfortable, known for its friendly welcome, laid back atmosphere, excellent facilities and access to the local surf and night spots.
