Things kick off late in Figueira da Foz, the best time to hit the local night spots is after midnight, when the streets are packed with locals and travellers alike all out to have a good time. If you prefer to start a bit earlier, then visit the Paintshop Bar, located at the back of the hostel and treat yourself to a glass of beer, wine or (for the brave) the local Caipirinha cocktail, which is guaranteed to wake you up for the night ahead.
The streets around Casino Figueira, just a short walk from the Paintshop Hostel, are packed with bars and night spots, with people spilling out onto the streets on hot summer nights. For those who like to make a full night of it, there are two night clubs in the area that start getting busy at 4am when the bars close. Guests often find themselves staggering back to the hostel for breakfast before bed at 7am when the clubs close- that’s why we don’t have a curfew!
If you don’t fancy checking out the nightlife on your own then join us on Friday nights for the Paintshop bar crawl, where we’ll entertain you in the hostel bar until late then take you on a tour of the local nightspots, with lots of free shots and drink along the way. Alternatively, the staff are always on hand to give you recommendations of great places to visit, including knowledge of the local restaurants with the best deals if you fancy a break from cooking in the hostel kitchen.One of the best deals to be found is at the Sporting Restaurant, 5 minutes’ walk from the Paintshop, where you can eat all of the BBQ’d local fish and meat that you desire, plus rice, salad and soup with a pitcher of local wine for the bargain price of €7.50 per person.
