Figueira is a lovely seaside town with a lot to offer! From the amazing seafood and gastronomy to the beautiful landscape there are miles and miles of natural coastline to explore the golden sandy beaches, surf breaks and national park.

If you want to keep your feet wet aside from the vast Main Beach (Europes widest) and the surf at Cabedelo, there’s the Aqua Park Teimoso and a stunning outdoor swimming pool complex to enjoy (Musicais Summer).

Figueira hosts a number of small festivals each year, including the much celebrated local São João Festival (June) and the RFM Sunset Beach Party (July) – both not to be missed! Drinking, good food, djs and dancing til dawn brings this small town to life during the summer time. Fusing Festival (August) brings together Food, Art, Music, Sport and Culture.

Also during the summer season the town attracts people for the numerous sporting events and competitions from sailing, surfing, bodyboarding, motocross/enduro, BMX, kayaksurfing, half-marathons,  triathlons and the famous European Beach Rugby Tournament (July).

For those who like to take a walk on the wild side the Bull Ring (Coliseu Figueirense) is sure to enliven the senses and is a great way to get up close and personal with local culture.  Be sure to visit the Mercado Municipal for the freshest fruit, veg, fish and seafood the town has to offer.  Sure to tempt you with the wide range of colours, shapes and smells through the seasons.

The Serra da Boa Viagem National Park is beautiful to explore by bicycle with photo opportunities at the Look Out Point and Casa Pinha and climbing fun at Parque Aventura. On the way back down Gelateria San Remo is a must-stop for the best ice cream sundaes and waffles in town!

The best place to watch the sunset is Spasso’s Cocktail Bar overlooking Tamargueira Beach.  Daily during the Summer they have Happy Hour (6 – 8pm) and receive 2 delicious Caiparinha cocktails for just 4,50 Euros. Take a bicycle and some friends from the hostel and enjoy the sunset together before heading off to dinner.

Activity-wise the town has a lot to offer from surfing, bodyboarding, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, SUP, kite-surfing, sailing, horseriding, boat trips and tennis, to name but a few! For more info and advice on how to book please ask a member of staff.

In the evenings the town centre comes alive with al fresco eating, buzzing bars and live music.  Try your luck in the Casino at roulette or black jack or enjoy one of their international-themed dinners, concerts or fashion shows.  The numerous bars along the cobbled streets offer a variety of music and a great way to soak up the summers evening sipping drinking outside. Ricky’s on the Beach is a favourite for its friendly ‘tiki’ vibe and free shots!
